13 – friends (57)
Smith was his partner for quite a while already, but Kurdy still refused to call him a friend; this little guy who insisted on being God's messenger gave him the creeps with his strange prophecies, though Kurdy had to admit, that he often enough came close to the truth and that this had saved his life already twice.

14 – sick (64)
„No, Smith, we won't get closer to the farm,“ Kurdy said, grabbing for the arm of the little guy to make sure that he didn't run forward despite his warning,“I know, the people there are seriously sick and need help, but as long we don't get the okay of the doc, that it's not a mutation of the virus, we won't risk anything.“

15 – breath (95)
Smith forced himself to breathe again, in and out, in and out, until he finally was able to relax again; when the message had reached the Mountain, that skinheads had been seen near the school, where Rose and all the other children were living, it had been Kurdy who had forced him to keep a clear mind; now the big guy looked at him with a wide grin while he told him:“ See, I knew, Markus would do everything to keep them safe,“ but Smith could see in his eyes that he was reliefed, too.

16 – hiding place (68)
Jeremiah had seen her first under the stair; she was covering in her hiding place for hours, and when he bent down to her, she didn't even dare to look up; but he hadn't given up, had spent a lot of time sitting beside her in silence, until she finally lifted her head and smiled at him; the beginning of a dream which would end as a nightmare.

17 – melodrama (58)
At the beginning he sometimes had thought, that the life after the Big Death was like one the melodramas his Mom had loved to watch, full of tragedy and tears and bitter endings, and for whatever reason this thought felt somehow reassuring and made him moving on, instead of curling up somewhere, to wait for the end.

18 – passing out (54)
„Smith, Smith,“ the voice reached his mind like through a haze and he forced his eyes open; instantly he noticed the relief written on Kurdy's face; „You've scared me to death when you passed out without any reason;“ Smith tried a smile and answered:“No need to worry, God won't let me go this easily.“

19 – still alive (58)
Reluctantly Smith opened his eyes; how could it be that he was still alive; the water of the lake had been cold and deep, but he had welcomed it, had waited for silence and peace; but now he was here, lying on the wet sand and a voice was drowning in his head:“Not now, you need to live!“

20 – soulmate (30)
They had had only one night together, but Smith knew that he had found his soulmate and Anna Rose' love would be a part of his life now and forever.

21 – secrets (51)
Kurdy eyed Smith curiously and asked:“Is there a reason why you keep your past so secret; we don't know anything about it,“ the little guy smiled slightly:“I don't have one,“ he said,“ it is as if I'm born together with the Big Death,“ and Kurdy wished he would never have asked.

22 – healing (51)
You need to talk with Smith,“ Erin told Kurdy, looking openly worried, “I don't know what else I can do to help him; his arm seems to heal well and the fever is almost gone, but he still lying in his bed apathetic, refusing to talk or at least to eat.“

23 – apocalypse (99)
„When the Big Death started, when the adults died, and chaos took over the world, I did hide under the porch of our house for days; I was sure, that I would die there,“ the young woman told Smith,“ thanks to Markus I did survive, but even today, fifteen years later, every house with a porch brings back the nightmares; I guess that's the reason why I don't like to leave the Mountain;“ Smith felt pity for her, though at the same time he wasn't sure if such dreadful memories really were worse than no memories at all.

24 – drunk (77)
Smith found Jeremiah in one of the unused storage rooms of the Mountain, apparently drunk and half-conscious, but the hate sparkling in his eyes when he recognized Smith was still the same; everyone told him, that what had happened wasn't his fault, that he had only done what needed to be done, but for Jeremiah he would always be the guy who had killed Libby Kaufman; he would never forgive, as Smith would never forgive himself.

25 – reassuring (44)
It was not very reassuring to be God's messenger; his prophecies always very vague and hard to understand, and more than once Smith wondered if at least God himself knew what he was doing and how the future of the world would look like.
